He talks about his almost 7 hours space walk and his experience of unexpected meeting with space debris. Matthias Maurer is on stage, another German astronaut, telling us about his experience, launching with the Falcon 9 rocket. Now on stage, two people from Haus der Astronomie and the DLR (German Space Agency) explaining what Hera and Dart propose is and what asteroid defence means. The music program is over and the pre-talks for the lunch have begun. Since 2007, the ESA has a planetary defence office, to work on an asteroid defence system. This was first to expensive for ESA, but as NASA joint the work and costs have been split between both space agencies. She speaks about Apophis, the asteroid that will pass Earth at it‘s closest approach on April 13, 2029. The Outer Space Office works with all space agencies around the world to protect Earth. now a member of the UN Outer Space office is on the stage, telling us about the work at this office. Hera is launching on a Flacon 9 rocket of Space X because Ariane 6 was delayed, which resulted in the need to switch to Space X. Friday nights was always a special day. Astronauts have collected their favorite food for fridays and enjoyed the best dinner on friday evenings. On Saturday and Sunday it‘s cleaning day in space. Thomas Reiter, German ESA astronaut, is on stage now and speaking about it‘s experiences in space. the pre-program of the launch event today explains what asteroids are which impact events happened in the last billion years.
